Cordless Mouse and Keyboard

Craig Hill

Abstract:
The ever growing number of peripherals computers possess has led to the unprecedented clutter of cabling upon the desktop. This thesis aims to reduce the number of cables by way of the design and implementation of a cordless mouse and keyboard.
The thesis spans two major areas - hardware and software interfacing, and wireless communications. Hardware and software interfacing is required as both devices communicate using different electrical characteristics and protocols.
Unidirectional infrared communications are utilized to minimize cost so the device appears more attractive to younger generations.
The system is therefore a good start for a low cost cordless mouse and keyboard. Design provisions have been made so future upgrades to radio frequency transmission is readily available.
