97 GHz Signal Path Losses Prediction

Abstract:
A series of programs written in Mathworks’ Matlab software enables
systems designers of future 97 GHz communication systems to quickly find
an approximation of the attenuation due to atmospheric gases and rain.
It uses a modified ITU-R recommendation of attenuation by atmospheric gases
and an ITU-R recommendation of specific attenuation model for rain.
This allows the designer to predict the attenuation, determine an adequate
fade margin and level of reliability under a range of atmospheric conditions.
