Extended Implementation of a Software Architecture for a Networked Vending System. Student: Eamon John Hetherton Supervisor: Richard Cocks Category: Software Engineering Thesis Project
This thesis deals with the implementation and extension of a software architecture for controlling and monitoring a networked vending system. In 2000, work was begun on the design and partial implementation of an architecture for this purpose; this year’s project is an expansion of this work, with further extension and implementation of the design. The motivation for the NetVend software architecture is to develop a system for controlling and monitoring a network of vending machines that is extensible, reliable and scaleable. It is designed to accommodate virtually any type of vending system, be it a physical system such as soft drink machines and petrol pumps, or conceptual items such as data. The focus of this thesis is to extend and implement the current NetVend system to the point where it can be demonstrated controlling a small component vending machine and potentially other simulated vending machines.
