Mechanical Design of a Humanoid

Student: Anthony Maurice Hunter

Supervisor: Dr. Gordon Wyeth

Category: Computer Systems Engineering Thesis Project

This thesis entail the mechanical design of the humanoid robot called the Guroo. It is taken from the perspective of the human body, illustrating different parts of the human body and how they work in conjunction with other areas.

With design and manufacture in mind, the Guroo has been specifically design for practicality and functionality. This means that it conforms to parameters such as weight and cost requirements.

It specifically details the design of joints, limbs and the components that are used in aiding in the eventual walking of the Guroo Humanoid Robot. The processes used in manufacturing of the Guroo will also be included as this plays an integral part of the development process.
