3 - input, 1 - output, Video Graphics Array selector, with remote control.

Switching between computer image inputs that are to be displayed by a data projector is challenging when signal integrity is crucial. High frequency signals are susceptible to transmission line effects and consideration must be taken to avoid crosstalk, reflections and delays. Careful planning ensures that these distortions remain at a minimum.

The design is a request from a client, who needs to display any one of three laptop video connections on an overhead data projector. The device required for this task is known as a Video Graphics Array Multiplexer. It is essential that the desired input can be selected within the room. Thus, selection can be activated by a corresponding pushbutton or via remote control.

Availability of components meant a second approach would be necessary to satisfy the requirements of the design. Comparisons made between the methods find advantages for the implementation of either. Ultimately, between the designs, a solution is found for the client.
