A prototype of The Virtual Campus project

The Virtual Campus project is a intuitive navigational system applied to a 3D model of the University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus. Currently this system has been applied only to the Great Court environment of the University. The aim of this project is to develop methods to help users find their way around complex navigational environments. This system will be accessible via the World Wide Web.

Navigating the large St Lucia Campus of the University of Queensland is often very difficult for newcomers. The aim of the virtual campus is to allow visitors to the campus to familiarise themselves with their surroundings in a virtual world so that they may find navigation easier and faster in the real world.
