The fundamental goal of the deregulation is to enhance the competition among the electricity energy suppliers, to free consumers’ choices of suppliers and to maximize overall social welfare. However, the power systems have been forced to operate closely near their security margins, presenting a lot of problems for security management. The system security is the fundamental aim for power system operation. To address the security in the deregulated environment, a new management framework for Ancillary Services must be designed properly. The focus of this project is to establish of an integrated market for electricity and spinning reserve, which is the one of the most important Ancillary Services. Electricity demand and price forecasting models, using various new techniques, such as AI, Wavelet and data mining, have also been developed as an essential part for market management. Future scope of the research involves decision making study in the competitive electricity market, market expansion planning and security analysis.
